Arriving at Europa (Düsseldorf remix)

For those that are into music technology

Arriving at Europa (Dusseldorf remix) was produced with Ableton Live 8,

Native Instruments Reaktor 5.6.2, Native Instruments Absynth 5 and Spectrasonics

Omnisphere.

100% midi. No samples were used.

I also used mics from Blue Microphones for my vocals and used BeatRepeat to produce

that Sci-Fi inspired robotic vocal effect.

Beat Repeat is one of my favorite Ableton Live plug-ins. It’s awesome

for both studio and live use. The sounds it can produce are incredibly diverse

and sometimes pretty random but no matter what patch you are using everything

can be altered to great effect in real time. One of the parameters I like to play with is the

‘Variation’ control. This does exactly what it says on the tin, it adds variation to the effect

produced and when automated the effects can be pretty interesting.

For those that are into music technology part 2

Making love in the vacuum of space was produced with Ableton Live 8

and Native Instruments Reaktor 5.6.2.

Just two midi tracks within Ableton.

One Native Instrument drum machine and one Native Instrument synth. Unfortunately

I was unable to get the timing right on the Native Instruments SubHarmonic plug-in no

matter how many hours I spend fine tuning the SubHarmonic plug-ins perimeters.

The formulas and instructions for finding the right perimeters were beyond me.

But in the end I fell in love with the SubHarmonic sounds/track and just couldn't trash

the track.

You can hear the SubHarmonic synth on it's own at the end of the track.
